Call for Papers – IBEFA Annual Meeting at the 2024 ASSA Conference

The International Banking, Economics, and Finance Association (IBEFA) will hold its next Annual Meeting in San Antonio, TX, in conjunction with the Annual Allied Social Science Associations Conference Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, January 5–7, 2024. Members and non-members are equally encouraged to submit papers.

Submission Deadline:  March 24, 2023
We encourage the submission of papers on topics including (but not limited to) financial intermediation inside or outside of the regulated sector; securitization and shadow banking; financial risk measurement and management; financial stability and macroprudential policies, including climate risks; payments systems; household finance; financial market structure and regulation; central banking; and financial innovation.
Completed papers should be submitted electronically by Friday, March 24, 2023.

To submit a paper, please begin by registering at the conference planning website (https://www.conftool.pro/ibefa-assa2024/). This link can also be reached via the heading “Call for Papers – ASSA” at the IBEFA website (https://www.ibefa.org/). Enter all requested contact information for all authors. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
There is a submission fee of US$50 dollars per paper, except for papers solely authored by students, which are charged a fee of US$25. Authors of accepted papers must also register to attend the ASSA annual meeting, as ASSA charges a separate conference registration fee for all attendees.

No artigo “Labor and Finance: The Effect of Bank Relationships”, publicado no Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis (JFQA) em novembro de 2022, Dr. Patrick Behr (Università della Svizzera italiana, Suíça), Professor Dr. Lars Norden (FGV EBAPE, Brasil; atualmente pesquisador visitante na Georgetown University e no Fundo Monetário Internacional em Washington DC) e Dr. Raquel de Freitas Oliveira (Banco Central do Brasil, Brasil) investigam se o número de relacionamentos de crédito das empresas com instituições financeiras afeta os resultados no mercado de trabalho. Usando 5 milhões de observações em dados de painel de crédito e mão de obra do Brasil, os pesquisadores estimam regressões por Variáveis Instrumentais, empregando variação exógena nas relações empresa-emprestador devido à atividade de fusões e aquisições bancárias em todo o país. As empresas com mais relacionamentos empregam mais trabalhadores e pagam salários mais altos. A disponibilidade de crédito, o custo do crédito e a heterogeneidade das instituições financeiras são mecanismos econômicos. Os resultados em nível de empresa se traduzem em efeitos macroeconômicos positivos em municípios e estados. A evidência é nova e indica efeitos positivos de múltiplos relacionamentos de crédito nos resultados do mercado de trabalho em uma economia emergente.
